About PowerCad Software^®

Beginnings

PowerCad Software^® was established in 1991 by business partners Adrian and Lorraine Newman.

As a consulting electrical engineer, Adrian developed automated cable sizing tools to aid his practice. As the software venture developed, the potential for widespread use of the program in the industry became evident.

Programmers were added to the team and gradually Adrian moved his focus full-time to app development and marketing.

The product range expanded as the demand for new features increased:

PowerCalc – the complete solution for large-scale electrical contractors

PowerCalc-H – the electrical design software solution for consulting engineers

PowerCad-5 – the optimum electrical engineering design solution for consulting engineers

Going Global

PowerCad-5 is used by electrical engineers in 27 countries world-wide, including New Zealand, Mongolia, India, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, South Africa, Vietnam, Philippines, France, Germany, Spain and UAE.

Since our founding, we have evolved to meet the needs of the industry. Our ongoing commitment to research and development has placed us as a leader in innovative design software solutions for the building services industry.

In 2023, PowerCad Software^® was purchased by JDM Technology Group. As one of the largest global suppliers of enterprise software for the construction industry and built environment, JDM has extensive industry expertise and a global development team. This has provided a firm foundation for future development and growth.
